Corazón
Global has created a secular (non-religious) curriculum
for children, the purpose of which is to empower children
to believe in themselves and foster self-esteem. The curriculum
is based on the following principles:
- The power each of us has to direct
our lives in positive, productive ways;
- Gifts each child brings to the world
to further the evolution of the planet;
- Compassion for self and all others;
- Responsibility for the choices each
of us makes, and how to learn to make choices based
on values and morals; and
- The mind-body connection.
We facilitate assemblies,
or presentations, to entire grades, or to individual classes.
The assembly or presentation includes a short introduction
about what it means to be proud of who you are, a discussion
with the children on the characteristics or gifts they bring
to humanity, and then we do a craft focused on the gifts
of each individual child. When we do the initial workshop
of the series, we gift each child with a copy of the book
“I AM.”
These assemblies are free,
and Corazón Global underwrites the funding of the
books and supplies, as well as the presentations. |

The School without Walls
workshop was on December 7, 2005. Corazon Global sponsored
55 kids from two very poor colonies in Tijuana to come
to Peter Piper Pizza and enjoy games, eat pizza, and experience
a fun workshop on self esteem, focusing on the inner gifts
each child has. After the craft was done, the children
shared their artwork with each other, and had a wonderful
afternoon. This workshop was in colaboration with "Fundacion
para la Proteccion de la Ninez" (Foundation for the Protection
of Children).

A
Season for Nonviolence, January 30 - April
4, is a national 64-day educational, media, and grassroots
campaign dedicated to demonstrating that nonviolence is
a powerful way to heal, transform, and empower our lives
and our communities. Inspired by the 50th and 30th memorial
anniversaries of Mahatma Gandhi and Dr. Martin Luther King,
Jr., this international event honors their vision for an
empowered, nonviolent world.
